What is an Educational Audiologist?

Educational Audiology is a specialty area within the field of Audiology. The Educational Audiologist provides a wide range of hearing-related services within the educational environment and most often has some specific training and/or experience teaching or working in educational settings. These services include diagnostic, intervention, and management to ensure students with auditory disorders have access to learning.
Educational audiologists work directly with school systems and students providing support in the classroom as well as in-service and training of personnel working with students diagnosed with an auditory disorder. They provide audiological evaluations including functional assessments of personal and classroom auditory technology; provide recommendations for appropriate hearing technology; manage personal hearing amplification; review and interpret audiological reports; evaluate and serve as the expert in the area of managing acoustic access and hearing loss in the classroom setting.
